Galaxy Tab 10.1 and Galaxy Tab 8.9 tablet computers





 
The Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 and Galaxy Tab 10.1 are now the "World's thinnest tablets."  They are expected to ship globally this summer with Wi-Fi and HSPA+ (21Mbps) models. 

Samsung's 10.1-inch Samsung Galaxy Tab will be available on June 8.    Feature Comparison

Both Samsung Galaxy Tabs run on Android 3.0 Honeycomb and they will be the first tablets to support Samsung's new TouchWiz UX for tablets. This includes a live panel that you can customize with different content, such as your pictures, bookmarks, and social feeds. There's also an application tray that gives you access to more commonly used apps to help ease multitasking. Other highlights include resizable widgets and a nifty wireless manager.
  • Similar to Apple's iPad 2, the 16 gigabyte Wi-Fi Galaxy Tab will cost $499 and the 32 gigabyte version will cost $599.
  • The Tab 10.1 offers a slightly larger, 1280x800, pixel display compared to the iPad 2's 1024x768.
  • The two Samsung Galaxy Tab have a 3 megapixel rear camera and 2 megapixel front facing, while the iPad's are both sub megapixel.
  • The Tab is 8.6mm thick vs. iPad 2's 8.8mm
  • The Tab weighs a few grams less than the iPad 2.
  • The Galaxy Tabs also offer double the RAM of the iPad 2 at 1GB.
  • Samsung claims up to 13 hrs battery life vs. 10 typical of Apple iPad 2.  We will have to see how they perform running similar applications.
