The Akre Focus Retail Fund (AKREX) invests primarily in securities of companies listed on U.S. stock exchanges. Investments consist primarily of common stocks of companies of any capitalization range. It may also invest in preferred stocks, warrants, options, and other equity-like instruments, such as partnership interests, limited liability company interests, business trust shares and rights and other securities that are convertible into equity securities. The fund is non-diversified.

Bob Brinker Sr., editor or the "Marketimer" newsletter and host of the syndicated radio show "Money Talk" spent most of his investment career telling callers to his show to limit their exposure to individual stocks to no more than 4% of their investment portfolio. He says the risks of a total loss or at least massive losses in a concentrated position outweigh the benefits.   Brinker also tells callers to use index funds or at least very low cost index funds.  The Akre Focus Retail Fund, the latest fund added to his recommended list, does neither.  We wonder if his son is calling the shots these days as this non-diversified fund has highly concentrated positions in a few stocks.  The following information from Yahoo! is current as of 1/10/12.

Brinker must really like this fund manager to sell the total stock market index fund with its tiny 0.06% annual expense ratio to buy his position in AKREX.
