Details:

7.50% on $1,000 is $75.  1-time $5 Membership fee lowers this to $70
New membership and new checking account required.
This offer is limited to new members only and has a $1,000 minimum and maximum
.

The Catch: The checking account is free BUT you have to buy the checks.  A box of checks costs approximately $20 which includes tax and shipping. The basic price is about $14. Subtract $20 check fee and $5 membership fee and the "effective rate" drops from 7.5% to 5.0%.

Article: Beware of Annuities

Definition:  A Certificate of Deposit or CD is certificate from a bank stating that the named party has a specified sum on deposit, usually for a given period of time at a fixed rate of interest.  Often there is a penalty for early withdrawal (taking your money out before the specified period of time.)

1 Funds may not be added during the term of a certificate of deposit (CD), except for Liquid CDs. Interest rate and APY in effect at the time a CD account is opened are guaranteed for the full term. Personal funds only.

2 Annual Percentage Yield  may change. Fees may reduce earnings. Penalty may be imposed for early withdrawal.
